Job description

We are interested in hiring an experienced Site / Civil Estimator to join our team. The Estimator plans, budgets, oversees, and documents all aspects of the estimating and bid process. Estimator will work closely with senior management to make sure that the estimate and bid align with company policies, processes, procedures, protocol and budget. The estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, value engineering, and subcontractor bidding. The estimator must be able to analyze RFPs and make determination of most profitable yielding work and prioritize bidding.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge regarding all facets of the site / civil construction industry, specifically site work and underground utilities. Must possess heavy equipment knowledge.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and means and methods.
  • Proficiency with computers. Familiarity with construction management programs. SharpeSoft Preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management preferred, or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience. 10 years experience preferred.
  • Must have clean drivers record and be able to pass a drug screening.

 

Job Duties:

  • Visit sites to evaluate site conditions and confirm scope of work.
  • Be able to produce a volume of work that results in revenue that meets the level necessary to continue to fully utilize the maximum capacity of the company's existing resources.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs.
  • Identify labor, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Determine production rate.
  • Prepare project cost estimate which utilizes company labor and equipment cost information.
  • Work with Project Manager for extra work / change orders.
  • Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public. Maintain composure, professionalism and objectivity in difficult situations and effectively resolve conflict without escalating tension.
  • Solicit multiple quotes to be used to select the most suitable offer and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • For proposals won, hand off project and proposal to Operations team for successful project completion.

While performing the duties of this job, the Estimator is required to visit and inspect the project and may be exposed to on going construction and various weather conditions. The Estimator works may be near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to uneven ground, extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, dust, and dirt. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
